We have been busy over the past six months cleaning, painting and brightening up the appearance of the hall. We started of with a volunteer weekend, Rainbows to Trefoil Guild and members from local community groups come along to help out. We cleaned and painted the porch, kitchen, toilets and radiators. What a great start this was and it gave us the bug to keep going and make some more improvements.
At the end of February we had 22 volunteers from Goodgym paint the hall for us in between their weekly run. We also had a new oven and kitchen cupboards installed.
We had the old stage removed to open the large hall up even more and Mitie Engineering supplied the paint and painted both halls throughout free of charge and it looks amazing. Gregg from G. Mimms Electrical who had completed a full electrical test prior to lockdown.
Renovations had to slow down due to coronavirus however following government guildlines we were able to get some things done. We had all the necessary electrical work needed to apply with current regulations upgraded, including the new strip lights which make such a difference. T.T. removed the old carpet, cover the old font and hardborad and repaired a number of loose floorboards for us making sure the floor was ready for the carpet fitters. Exeter City Trefoil Guild raised funds to pay for our new blackout blinds that have been fitted and Mitie returned and fitted our cupboard for the girlguiding units that meet at the hall to keep all their supplies in. We have also been donated a great new leaflet holder that fits perfectly under the window in the porch.
Still to come 2020
We are looking forward to spending some time in the garden creating a space for the girls and the local community to share, adding some final touches to the interior.
We are open again
The Main hall is now available and we would like to welcome our users back, we are set up to be Covid safe but unfortunately the kitchen is out of use for the time being.
